The Church
Providence Preschool is an outreach ministry of Providence Presbyterian Church. We are members of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination of conservative, evangelical churches with a heart for missions and Christian education. We invite you to worship and learn with us any Sunday at 8:30, 11:00, & 6:00 p.m. for worship and at 9:45 for adult and children's Sunday School.

The Preschool
We offer a Christ-centered early education program in a warm and nurturing atmosphere for the social-emotional, educational, and spiritual development of 3 and 4 year olds. We believe it has the right balance between play and exploration on the one hand, and directed learning on the other. Please call us if you would like to meet the teacher, see our facilities, or ask any questions you may have.

The Staff
Jenny Sanders, our teacher, received her degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in child development from King College. A member of the Mississippi Early Childhood Association, she considers working with preschoolers her ministry. She loves using creative art, cooking and story-telling to help guide young minds to enjoy and appreciate the world around them. Mrs. Sanders is joined by our trained full-time Aide who assists her in working with the children. Our student to teacher ratio is far lower than that required by the State.

The Oversight
The program and activities of Providence Preschool are under the oversight of a Preschool Committee consisting of two elders, one deacon, and two members of the Providence congregation.

The Curriculum
Structured learning is accomplished primarily through age appropriate hands-on activities. Concepts and skill have a monthly theme and focus on Christian values, character development, numbers, letters, language development, colors, shapes, holidays, seasons, creative art (clay, paint, puppets, sand, etc.), small & large muscle development, exposure to science & social studies concepts, health & safety habits, and music & movement, social and emotional development and training mental thought through questions and discussions.

The Spiritual Training
We want each child to know that s/he was made by God and is a special part of His plan. We try to help the children experience joy and love in their relation to God and His word. We teach a weekly Bible story or concept and have bi-monthly chapel services.

The Daily Schedule
A typical day includes free-choice play time, circle time, snack time, outdoor and/or indoor physical activities, stories, music, weekly science or cooking project, and a Bible story. We take into consideration the uniqueness and individual needs of each child when conducting daily activities.

More Than Just Toys And Playtime
Although 3 and 4 year olds need plenty of supervised playtime, Providence Preschool has both educational and spiritual goals that go into planning each day your child is in our care. We believe your child will not only have fun, but will have an educationally and spiritually rewarding time with us in the Providence Preschool.
